It’s August!

 

If you haven’t already, flip the calendar and start making plans!  There are plenty of things to do in Richland County this month.  The RCDA online Calendar of Events is a great source for finding out what is happening locally.  Here are the highlights for August:

 

If you missed the opening productions of “Annie”, don’t fret!  “Annie” will be presented again this upcoming weekend by the Community Players of Southwestern Wisconsin.   The shows are at 7:00 p.m. on August 4, 5, and 6th.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance.

 

This weekend is the Midwest Scroll Saw Trade Show.  We receive many calls at the Visitor’s Center throughout the year from people all over the U.S. inquiring about this event.  The show is held at the Richland Center High School and has been named as one of the top Scroll Saw Trade Shows in the Midwest.  The show starts on Friday at 8:00 a.m.  Tickets are $8.00.

 

August 5th is the “Annual Pie Day” at Consumer’s Cooperative.  The proceeds for this sale are donated to Walk With G.R.A.C.E.

 

 

Yid Vicious with be the musical guest for Treasures Music on August 5th.  The music and dinner is held at the Blue Highways/Masonic Temple downtown.

 

Don’t forget the Farmer’s Markets held every Wednesday from 3:00-5:30 p.m. at the Old Consumer Coop Mill parking lot.  It is also held every Saturday morning from 7:00-Noon in front of the Richland County Courthouse.  Great fresh produce from local farmers!

 

Weggy Winery is having a ‘Way Cool Wine Trail’ on August 6th and 7th.  Sample drinks made with Weggy Wine such as Sangrias and frozen wine-a-rita’s.

 

Join the Historical & Architectural Walking Tour of Richland Center on August 5th.  Local resident Ron Arbegust has organized this event to showcase the history and architecture right here in Richland Center.  The tour begins at the “Bowen House” at 220 East Union Street.  The walk lasts 1 ½ - 2 hours and will include 12 different architectural styles and 21 different properties.  Enjoy a trip down memory lane or learn more about the wonderful community we live and work in.

 

Need lunch?  Be sure to stop by the Ocooch Mountain Humane Society Animal House Food Stand any or all of the days from August 10-12th.  The food stand will be in Ed’s Family Foods parking lot and proceeds benefit the Ocooch Mountain Humane Society.

Walk with G.R.A.C.E. is on August 12th.  The theme for this year’s event is ‘There’s No Place Like Hope’.  The event is held at the Krouskop Park and will be held one night only.  Everyone’s life has been or will be touched by cancer.  Let’s do our part to show community support and help area residents dealing with cancer and work towards a cure!

 

The Pine Valley Healthcare Center is hosting concerts on August 18th and 19th.  Wolf Country Band will perform at 1:30 p.m. on the 18th.  Brass R Us will be playing on the 19th at 6:30 p.m.  Concerts will be held outdoors weather permitting.

American Players Theatre local night is on August 25th.  Reduced price tickets ($20) are available to local residents to see the performance ‘Of Mice and Men’.  Tickets must be purchased through A.P.T.

 

For fun and excitement head to Mick Memorial Park in Hub City August 26th- 28th.  Friday night is Open Euchre and music by Rock Around The Clock.  ATV Drag Races and a volleyball tournament will be held on Saturday.  Saturday night music will be the Rolling Rock Band. Truck Drag Races will be held on Sunday along with a Euchre Tournament. 

 

Don’t forget other town favorites such as the parks, pool, bowling, roller-skating, indoor and outdoor movie theatres, trails, shopping, kayaking, canoeing, bicycling, fishing, and many other fun things to do or explore.
